Cagliari (Back to the grindstone)

Tuesday 14th October – Cagliari (Back to the grindstone) 39:12.064N 9:07.510E
A busy and productive day.
Richard ‘pickled’ the water maker as we will not need it over the winter months whilst we are in marinas. This involved flushing a preservative solution through it to protect the membrane against the growth of micro-organisms whilst not in use. We also threw away the old filters and will start next year with new ones – the filters were just starting to show crud on them so they have lasted the summer quite nicely.
I spent the whole day doing laundry; some was the weekly wash but I also washed the saloon seat covers, the ensign, the yacht club burgee and the beach towels – not the usual washing list.
Richard did a late run to the chandlery and the supermarket – we should find out tomorrow if the part he wanted from the chandlery is now obsolete and/ or whether we can get an alternative L.
By nightfall most of the washing was dry and we sat exhausted with a glass of wine in the cockpit as the sun went down and the full moon rose.
This evening we plan to have a quiet night in with a DVD to recover.
