Lagos (The NW wind does blow)

Thursday 3rd January 2008 – Lagos (The NW wind does blow) 37:06.610N 8:40.494W
The sound of wind and rain overnight announced that the forecast bad weather was arriving on cue. With rain and wind squalls throughout the morning it was time to watch a couple of films and catch up on the admin and correspondence.
The occasional patch of blue sky this afternoon provided the opportunity for a walk to the marina office to check for post and later another walk to the nearby chandleries to get a new gaz refill (and of course a browse for Richard).
On the way back we dropped in on Blue Elephant to say ‘hello’ and then went to the bar with them to toast Cath’s birthday.
This afternoon’s shipping forecast was enough to remind us of England:
Area forecasts to Friday 4 at 12 UTC PORTO, SAO VICENTE : Veering Northwest 7 or 8, then increasing at times 9 soon, then decreasing 6 or 7 at end. Severe gusts. Becoming high or very high. Squalls, locally thundery.
The wind should subside by Saturday but it looks like the big swell will be around a bit.
This evening we dropped by Wandering Dragon with some cold chicken for Koshka and Yoyo (fortunately for them mum and dad do not insist on them being vegetarian as well) – however we were a little perturbed to find Stephen and Anne practicing Scrabble…
