La Coruña

Last night we took a pleasant walk into La Coruña.
The town square has an exhibition by an artist who specialises in metal sculptures (I think he must have been a panel beater at one time). The square has a large number of his works which seem to be of naked men and women (with all the bits) about 15ft high, some with their heads missing; there are also quite a number of very large heads lying around on their sides – very weird! There were some children playing in the heads as they were hollow, which made me smile – not sure the artist would have appreciated it though. I’m not very good with modern art so not sure what it all meant.
Today we slept in late and after a leisurely breakfast I did some washing, whilst Richard did some boat maintenance. It was a bikini day; the weather has been a bit windy, even though we are very well sheltered here in the marina, but has been fabulous sunshine all day.
Although the facilities are pants, the marina has a nice feel to it and everyone is friendly. This afternoon we took a walk around La Coruña. It is another lovely place – I am finding that I really like the north of Spain.
A small cruise ship was in town for the day, berthed just the other side of the harbour wall, called ‘Regatta’. It was not a P&O as we know those. We didn’t recognise the ensign when it left this evening and I couldn’t find the flag in the Almanac. It was a blue background with a diagonal red above white stripe, and it looked like there was a white emblem in the top left hand corner.
This evening we did the prawns and baguette (well Spanish equivalent) routine with a bottle of wine to celebrate our arrival – sublime!
