Moorglade's log shows Thursday's passage as
Yorktown to Deltaville, which was my intention when leaving the Yorktown mooring
at 9:00. Another adventure was heading for a friends private dock in Lawrence
Cove, so I thought I would give myself an easy day and drop the hook in Fishing
Bay or Jackson Creek. However as I approached the Wolftrap Tower at 12:45
Moorglade was making good time on a beam reach with tidal help, so it seemed a
good idea to keep going. I knew Bob and Joy Young were planning to be sailing in
the west part of Fleet Bay so I changed the passage plan and set course for
Indian Creek, which I knew offered me a choice of anchorage or marina. As I was
working my way slowly down the creek I was hailed on the vhf by Bob aboard
Liberty who had spotted my ensign and just assumed it must be Moorglade. Not too
many red dusters round these parts. I followed Liberty up the Indian Creek,
turning to port into Pitman's Cove where Bob set his anchor and I rafted up
alongside. Introductions made we shared a few beers and discussed the NHFII
cruise which Bob has planned.
As the evening progressed a new plan
developed.
