Sunday 25th July
Left the anchorage at Corme after a dinghy trip
ashore for bread at 10:30 with a light NE wind sunshine. Sailed down the
coast in a rather too light wind under poled out headsail. Not fast but
pleasant. The wind suddenly strengthened as we approached the ria with Cabo
Villano off to port. By the time we were nearing the small marina it was blowing
hard so mooring required care. Help was at hand from a French woman on the
next boat and the harbour master, who can whistle very loudly to
attract the attention of skippers who have their own idea about where they
want to go. Late lunch once secure and then an easy afternoon of jobs and
strolls. Kay was pleased to get under the marina shower to wash of the second
application of nit treatment. (thanks Jack). Several false starts to the evening
meal. Plan A, chicken cooked on board was abandoned after smelling the chicken;
planB, eat at the yacht club fell foul of the club restaurant being filled with
the stragglers from a lunchtime celebration all smoking. We settled for pizza
and baked beans eaten on board.
Monday26th July
The wind is blowing strongly today so we are quite
pleased to be having a lay day. Shopping for supplies this morning, raciones at
a bar by the harbour for a lengthy lunch, and an easy afternoon. Kay has been
taking advantage of the free wifi to do some work and we have deployed the new
sunshade for the first time so reading and snoozing in the cockpit carried no
risk of sunburn. I'm pleased it proved stable in the very strong wind. Planning
a meal on board this evening. we need to get to bed in good time for an early
start tomorrow to avoid the strongest winds round Cape Finistere.
