Our position is 42:25.71N 08:42.33W
Monday 2nd August.
The recommended bar at Pedros Negras proved to be
very satisfactory, so we made a reservation for dinner. It is a fair indication
of the number of British people on this coast that our table was
identified as "Ingleses"
Sunday morning we filled up with diesel (we had
used 97 litres since filling at Exmouth) and motored the short distance to
anchor of the beach. Pleasant afternoon on the beach and an unusually still
night.
This morning we sailed off the anchor and down the
coast passed Isla Ons and up the Ria Pontevedra to Combarro.
It is a holiday village with a new marina. the old
fishing village has a lot of character with a mixture of fisherman's cottages
and Horrereo (stone built grain stores), mostly now converted into bars
restaurants or gift shops. Apparently they are fine examples of traditional
Galician architecture.
We are moored in the marina close to a yacht flying
both the Cruising Association and Royal Dart burgees which turned out to be
Frank Singleton. Had a chat in the bar later.
Combarro came highly recommended in the pilot book
and has not disappointed.

The crew decided they liked it so much here they
wanted to stay another day. It also helps Kay catch up with work and provides a
very convenient place for Chris and John to catch a bus and then train to La
Curuna to collect their car. Anyway the sun is shining and the skipper is not
adverse to doing not a lot.
