Back to Kos

Position 36:53.819N 027:17.248E Where have 14 weeks gone since we were last in It is a LOT busier this time around, the moorings beneath
the castle, where we stayed last time, are now supervised by the nearby Marina
and they are charging 50 Euro per night to tie up to the harbour wall –
what a rip off ! So we are on the opposite side of the harbour basin where it
is free apart from a nominal charge of a few Euros per night payable to the
Port Authority. There are always more boats looking to tie up in the early
evening than spaces available so it is a bit of a bun fight – we make a
point of arriving before mid day which seems to work well. To add to the general chaos around 15 big wooden day
cruisers leave the harbour quietly each morning full with passengers and arrive
back early evening, motoring fast into the busy harbour with the partying
passengers giving a display of singing, dancing and Mexican waves to loud music
– very entertaining. This side of the harbour, we are close to the beach so we
have somewhere to swim and cool off, in May we spent our days around the pool
at the children’s’ apartment. We have also put up the big sunshade to keep the boat cooler
and we are waiting for our next visitors to arrive tomorrow. Sheena and Emily are joining us for their holidays –
can’t wait !
This morning we were entertained by some budding artists
with big smiles who were very bad but we couldn’t help laughing at their
entrepreneurial spirit ! |
