Boxing Day in Phi Phi Le

Position 07:40.801N 098:45.849E Boxing Day we motored around to Phi Phi Le (small Phi Phi)
to It was quite busy with yet more day trippers but we found a
spare mooring buoy and we were soon joined by Jackamy and Fai Tira. We snorkelled to one of the small beaches with Katie and
Charlie then, after lunch, we took the dinghies to the headland where Mark
& I, Amy & Paul & Pete did a dive and Katie & Charlie took
charge of the dinghies whilst we were down. We saw some very big fish and
several large turtles grazing on the coral. We came up with air to spare so that Katie and Charlie could
have a go with our diving gear, close to the boat in 9 metres of water. Charlie was a natural, very calm and easily descending then
swimming along with good neutral buoyancy. A barby on the beach was the plan in the evening however the
advance party reported back with a few problems….. Although Paul & Jack successfully built a great fire
ready to barbeque, Jack was bitten all over by mosquitoes and Paul had managed
to get two nails through his foot while breaking up firewood. Also the tide was
out and they had to drag the dinghy a very long way before reaching the beach. So a quick change of plan, we already had our barby out on
Blue Magic so everyone bought their food and drink to us instead. A great
evening rounded off with Miss Tippy’s chocolate brownies (a Christmas present)
and a game of ‘ Paul cheated, as usual, so the boys scraped through as
winners, well there was 7 of them and only four girls, plus Katie was asleep
throughout ! This morning we had the beach to ourselves before the day trippers
arrived on mass. It was stunning ! Fine white sand beach and turquoise water surrounded by beautiful
towering limestone rocks – but still no sign of Leonardo ! |
