Lovely Day

After setting off in our formations again last night we had
a call from Jackobel to ask if they could catch up and join our group because
Jacques has terrible toothache and wants to get into Salalah as soon as
possible. They joined the back of our group just after six this morning . Jacques has been suffering for over a week now, but is
encouraged to know that Blue Water Rally have arranged a dental appointment in
Salalah and he will soon be there. Because of a lack of communication last night, Jackamy were
the only yacht to pick up additional fuel from the other group so we are
motoring faster than the other group because we are trying to run at
optimum/economical revs so that we achieve the best speed from the lowest fuel
consumption. Our group seem confident that we will have enough fuel to
share around, if necessary, to get us all safely in to Salalah in the next
couple of days. Today we have beautiful sunshine again and small dolphins
playing at the bow. During the morning we motor sailed past another rally in
two groups of six and five yachts, it was comforting to see other yachts out
here ! We had an amusing incident
yesterday: We were monitoring a small
unidentified vessel on radar travelling ahead of us. There was also a big commercial ship
passing by it, so Mark decided to contact the commercial ship to ask if there
was anything suspicious about the vessel. His English was not very good, and
when mark asked " Was the boat he had just passed a safe target
?". He misinterpreted us and thought we were telling him the other
boat was a pirate boat. He made a very quick 90 degree turn and disappeared! |
