More endurance !

Position 18:58.866S 157:28.650E The day started off promising with bacon sandwiches and
pleasant sailing until we tuned into the morning radio net. Yachts ahead of us were reporting that they had entered a troph
of bad weather with strong fluky winds and heavy rain and it was moving our way
at about 15 knots. Mark was very organised, we took down the twistle poles and
secured them and reefed in the sails. Around 12.00 we could see a big black
cloud rolling towards us and sure enough we entered into heavy rain and strong
headwinds – what fun ! The moving troph left behind it confused seas and waves
which are only just starting to abate now ( midnight). Mark also co ordinated on the SSB radio to let the yachts
behind us know when to expect the weather change, it is so much easier when you
are prepared in advance. The weather forecast is for the winds to decrease from
tomorrow – so I am dreaming of a nice calm sunbathing day before we
arrive on Monday. Due to the flurry of activity and boat rolling my shower had
to be postponed, oh my god 4 days without a shower, so I am dreaming of getting
under that running water too. Happy Birthday to our girls today, Kirsty & Amalia ! |
