Currently 100 miles due north of the easternmost island of the Cape Verde archipelago - approx 660 Nm covered from Las Palmas.
making good progress with a following wind so averaging 7 knots.
Yesterday - Thursday - we had some bad news - we lost "James" overboard - James being the man overboard practice buoy. He slipped his lashings and made a bid for freedom and to travel the worlds oceans.
Felt pretty bad about losing some plastic overboard since we have been fastidious about putting only waste food overboard. We hope our small contribution to plastic in the ocean will be washed up and put to use by a fisherman in West Africa...
On board its important to wash out the waste packaging before crushing and storing since the smallest amount of food will soon turn putrid in these warm conditions.
The crew are bonding well and we had community sing song yesterday - Paul substituting the real words with a version he picked up in the army.
Overnight we had a perfectly clear night with the moon shining brightly and with a star in the west to guide us by. With the moon so bright there was not the usual ceiling of the Milky way. We spend many an hour gazing at the stars and trying to identify the various constellations and stars and wondering at the skills and knowledge of Sailors of bygone years with only the stars to guide them.
On that point - Paul and I had a go with the Sextant at the meridian passage yesterday - after some extremely complicated calculations came up with a position just three miles from our  actual position (or so he says - we have no way of checking...).
A spectacular sunrise this morning at 7 o'clock as the sun rose  majestically like a Golden Orb from the ocean to herald a new day.
Little did we know at the time, but  the day would bring  much celebration as we landed a fish! A Mahi Mahi - so its fresh Fish for lunch today.  Michel has already prepper him and got him in the oven.
So it's now Fish 1 - 1 Mojo.
We've been listening on the radio to other crews telling of their fishing exploits and the one's that got away - so it's bragging rights for us today.
Need to do a sail change now as we are turning towards the west and our final destination...
