Greetings from the mid Atlantic and I hope you are all enjoying opening your advent calendars this morning.

So yesterday we had some success in the pescatorial department with a second, much larger, Mahi Mahi landed following Paul's change of strategy for a much larger lure.
It's amazing how the catching of a fish creates such excitement amongst grown men - a moment of primeval excitement to break up the monotony of mile after mile of little else to do.
So we feasted on Fish and boiled potatoes with lashings of Mojo sauce brought from Gran Canaria - washed down with Tetra Brick wine and followed by Tinned Peaches (I'd forgotten how good they were) and squirty aerosol cream. All very satisfied.

Overnight the weather deteriorated with a big swell building and winds strengthening. We were being tossed around all over the place and little prospect of any sleep.
My watched finished at 7am so I tried to get some shut-eye - but half an hour in I heard a lot of commotion on deck as the skipper had decided that we had too much sail up.
Urgency demanded that I leap out of the bunk and don the lifejacket and harness since on deck it was like riding  a surf board - no time to get dressed!
i was bit disturbed by Michel's admiring glances...

The wind has abated but a large swell remains and whilst Henrietta the Hydrovane did sterling service overnight, manual steering makes for a more comfortable ride.
The miles keeping ticking off and we are now about 1195 nautical miles from Rodney Bay.
Each 100 miles being eaten up brings a minor celebration and we are looking forward to getting to sub 1000 in the next day or so.
Spotted an Oil tanker overnight - the Frederico Enrico - and a factory fishing boat, but otherwise still on our lonesome. Expecting to see others as we converge on St Lucia.
Colin - Blogmeister of the day.
