The battery charger failed on Wednesday, one “spare”we didn’t have! so had to source a replacement. Crucial that the batteries are kept charged when in port and not running the engine.
Bikes out and off to old marina, given name of one man band- but, closed for lunch! So set off to Decathlon, high up in the town, to buy a few bits and pieces. Realise why so few cyclists around - steep, as well as cobbled, streets, not fun with small wheels but very picturesque. Enjoyed the architecture.

Returned to buy the charger from a very helpful chap. Needless to say, a different brand and configured differently, so not a simple replacement.
Spent Friday walking out towards the airport to the “main”chandlery, which turned out not to stock much more than the other one in the marina. Hoped to source electrical bits for fitting the charger. Did stop off for lunch in a restaurant favoured by locals. 2 main fish dishes, tuna and mini mackerel, plus drinks and coffee €20. Horta prices again as long as you’re off the main drag. Enjoyed walking along some of the back streets, away from main thoroughfare.

Forte de São Bràs, the old fort, is now home to the military museum (and another fine collection of medieval anchors decorating the surrounding garden), building on it started in 1551 and continued through to 1567.

Up early today to fit said charger. New holes to be drilled and new wiring fitted. Never straightforward. A standing by to vacuum the sawdust! and mop F’s fevered brow. Fridge gradually defrosting, no bad thing in preparation for going home.( It took the entire day. )
