It’s a wrap

Have been fighting the weather the last couple of days. Decided to close up the inside of the boat yesterday as forecast was heavy rain and strong winds for today. Wanted to limit amount of moisture down below. Not as tidy as hoped but all clothes and bedding bagged up, cushions positioned to avoid mildew and 10 moisture grabbers( gel pads to absorb damp) spread throughout.
Woke early to a dry but breezy day, so after coffee and only a single slice of toast got to the boat by 8am to beat the rain. Tarp over the stern tied down nicely when we noticed a few places where the tarp might wear and needed some padding underneath. We also decided to throw a few heavy lines over the tarp - we hadn’t been able to source fishing net here, which may, or may not, have been better. Usual boatyard lore from various sources ranging from “You must have netting to hold it down” to “never use netting it encourages a build up of snow”. Had to undo said lines to access the ropes stored in the cockpit and allow F, AKA “snake hips” to commando crawl along the side deck and position some padding. Take two! Tied all back up, then had fun throwing lines over tarp which is very slippery. Had to borrow a ladder from neighbour’s boat. Left boat, happy we’d done as much as we could to protect her for 6 months from possible 4ft of snow etc etc.

It still hadn’t started to rain. Lucky. So hungry, went for brunch at Kinden’s bakery. Delish! Love the painted window

Now back to pack. Off to Gander airport tomorrow morning, return hire car, flight to Halifax, overnight there, flight to London, hire car home to minimise risk of catching anything. Arrive early hours Tuesday morning.
It’s a wrap, folks, for this year.
