Biblical rain

Went to bed listening to torrential rain with thunder and lightning. The latter always makes us nervous. Woke to torrential rain plus the sound of multiple sirens - a house fire at the top of the town, which may or may not have been caused by lightening but nevertheless destroyed the entire property. The smoke drifted right down to the harbour.
The dinghy was half full of water. Not yet fully in the zone. Should have removed the bung and tilted down to the stern so rainwater could drain.
Did brave the rain, again in search of wifi. Our preferred cafe closed for the day as no power. Second favourite had opened late again due to power outage , presumably due to the house fire.
Braved the local supermarket to keep us going for a couple of days. Then into a new bar/restaurant for a beer and a peek at their Wifi password. Beers arrived with an apology that internet was so slow due to wildfire network damage that guest WiFi will be off for a few days (this is becoming an expensive habit. Ed.) Both in sailing boots and winter gear. What happened to summer? Grateful the heating is working.
Fingers crossed the rain will have dampened down the wildfires which were burning out of control.
An opportunity to sort some things out below but can’t empty the car until the rain stops.
