On the way to Morris Island we sailed past
Cape Melville. Cape Melville and the hills to its south are comprised of
massive, smooth granite boulders piled on top of each other.

After a quick sail we anchored at 4am
on Thursday morning at Morris Island, a tiny island with just one coconut tree
on it. The British Admiralty policy during the last century was to provide many
of the Great Barrier Reef islands with goats and coconuts to support shipwrecked
crew.

We were planning a swim and a
stroll around the tiny island, until we realised what we initially thought was a
piece of driftwood on the beach, was in fact a crocodile basking in the
sun.
