Guadeloupe
16:18.433N 61:47.908W Saturday 2nd January 2010 We had been in Antigua for 4
weeks and we'd had a great time and met some lovely people but it was time
to move on. We’ve started to make our way South through the Leeward and
Windward islands aiming to get to Panama for early February. Our first stop was
Deshaies in Guadeloupe. Guaudeloupe is a French island,
the first of four that we will stop at. So after a 6 hour sail we
dropped our anchor just as the sun was setting. Blue Magic were already anchored
here and the next day with Mark and Chrissy we walked a kilometer and a half
uphill to the Botanical gardens. It was well worth the walk! The plants ranged
from cactus to orchids to very large trees and we also saw brightly coloured
parakeets, macaws and flamingos. It was a lovely day! Parakeets
