Pomarão

Hooray a hot thirty degrees finally!

We had an early start today to catch the last of the flood tide back up to Pomarão, six miles north of Alcoutim and are safely at anchor north of the town, hopefully up wind of the music and fireworks due tomorrow.

As the morning went by the heat rose steadily and by the afternoon and a walk ashore it was wonderfully hot ~ in fact too hot to do our original walk along the river. Instead we walked to the top of the hill to look at the smallest Church we have ever seen, Harry measured it to be 21 of his feet x 28 of his feet.

The River Guadiana sparkled in the afternoon sunshine and we were relieved by a beautiful cooling breeze at the top of the hill. Back to TC for a very refreshing swim, well 3/4 of us, before the children headed off for a row in the dinghy.

A few other boats have arrived and the Fish Festival begins tomorrow at 9am; we're bracing ourselves for the noise if New Year's Eve was anything to go by.
