Camaret

Returned to Camaret this morning and spent the afternoon doing admin, updating the Navionics to include Spain, shopping for 5 days of fresh veggies and fruit, laundry and a lovely Skype conversation home (very successful first attempt!)

Then the children who have been really very good went to the beach for a final swim. It was 8pm and the beach was empty, we soon saw why, there were breakers up against the sea wall, the beach was awash with sea weed and the swell was dramatic. Unpetturbed they plunged in and had a ball until they both turned blue, surfing in on short sharp breakers and filling their wetsuits up with sand and seaweed.

Hot showers, spaghetti bolognaise (don't all OYC trips begin with spaghetti bolognaise!) and our final blackberries to warm them up. Just as we were settling them down to sleep a local band started on the sea wall and we've had Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and now 'Sweet Home Alabama' blasting across the harbour towards us (it is midnight). There is quite a festival atmosphere here in Camaret and we notice, sadly, that we are missing fireworks tomorrow evening. Oh well, hopefully we'll be sailing SW to Spain under our own starry night.

Don't expect much from the blog over the next few days, if we manage to get the sat phone working I might manage a line or two, alternatively the next comm will be Sunday or Monday if we manage to get it all working again.

Now they are playing 'Hotel California' I don't think we'll be getting to sleep just yet!

Thank you to Yarmouth Harbour for adding the link to the website/newsletter, it has been lovely to receive emails from sailors all over the place who have stumbled upon the blog.
