National Park Islas Cies

Bol was a typical skipper this morning muttering about the injustice that today was the first day without any wind..... and then when it did appear it was from the wrong direction!

So we motored for 5 hours from Ria de Arosa to the beautiful National Park of Islas Cies and have had a lovely afternoon / evening here. When we arrived there were 14 yachts moored, tonight there is only one other at anchor with us (you need a permit to stay) and we are swaying gently in the swell. We can see Bayona off in the distance to the east of us.

Dolphins accompanied us to the end of Ria de Arosa this morning, at one stage we had them on both sides of us, it was magic.

When we arrived in Islas Cies we went ashore and the children spent 3hours digging on the beach, they had a lovely time 'trying to stop the incoming tide' and had to keep moving their fort up and up the beach. A text from Alicia who grew up in Bayona said that this was "voted the world's top beach by The Guardian" so clearly it was not going to be possible to keep the children away from it today.

I went inland for a stroll in the beautiful pine forest, there is an inland lagoon which is blocked off with a walkway that floods at high tide, creating a natural aquarium, some creatures live there full time and others come in at high water. We will all go and explore tomorrow.

No fishing is allowed ~ can Harry survive the 36 hours?
