23/7/08  10:00

We reluctantly left Bora Bora this morning at 9:30.  Now that the weather is settled and beautiful it would have been nice to stay a few more days.  Yesterday afternoon we took a couple of tins of sardines with us  as we snorkelled and were rewarded by a mini feeding frenzy with hundreds of small fish even eating out of your hand.  It was really lovely and I will attach a couple of photos.

16:00

After 3 1/2 hours motoring into the wind, we were passing very close to Maupiti and decided to stop for a quick look and a swim.  It is an extremely beautiful and totally unspoilt atoll with no tourism and only a couple of other yachts. Bora Bora had run out of eggs and we tried in vain to find some here (nothing was open in the afternoon) but had a nice walk looking for them.

The snorkelling was a challenge as the outgoing current was very strong.

18:00

We left at 17:30 having had a pleasant stop.  The wind continues to be more or less on the nose but it’s not very strong, only Force 3. We’re the wrong side of a high, but it should go South in a few hours.
