Paranagua

Last
night we had dinner in Paranagua and I ordered Prawns Greek style thinking
garlic and oil etc. What I got was
8 deep fried prawns stuffed with an emmental like cheese served with huge
portions of vegetable rice and chips. The prawns were served on souvlaki sticks
which must be what made them Greek. This
morning we explored some of the mangroves near the city in the dinghy and
tramped around town which this Epiphany Sunday was deserted. We left at
I’m
enclosing some snaps. I don’t
know what order you will see them in but here goes: 1)
A

Christmas
decorations are still everywhere.
They are mostly made from thousands of chopped up water bottles and some
spray paint. They slice the bottoms
off as a basic building block and use the tops to make flowers etc. A brilliant
use of rubbish. 4)
The
mangroves are very beautiful. 5)
I
like the fishing boats. 6)
And
last but not least we have “Speedy Spink.” I'm splurging by sending this many pictures, so I'll be more conservative
for a few days. It's very difficult not to send dozen’s more but then
everyone would get bored. Frustration. I spent quite a
bit of time preparing the previous entry and sending a number of pictures. After half an hour of air time and
a large bill at the last second it crapped out and nothing was actually
sent. It’s the last time I’ll send
more than 2 or 3 pictures at a time. So here’s a couple, more to
follow. We’ve been sailing, sort of, to windward a good 30 degrees off track and
we’re constantly headed. I have
just turned on the engine to motor sail. This will lead to a certain amount of
slamming and a lot of water on the deck, but at least we’re going more or less
on course. It will not be a good
night for sleeping |
