Having arrived back
from Corsica to Imperia in Italy. We quickly moved a few miles to San Remo.
What a difference; Imperia is a large new marina which is completely empty &
devoid of life. Whilst San Remo buzzed with flashy Italians showing off their
boats and cars. I saw flowers being delivered to a motor boat - not that big a
boat - on a Sunday. Alison of course wondered where our flowers where. We
spent a pleasant day up in the ancient lanes of the city and celebrated my
birthday with a good Italian meal.
We then moved on to
Cannes, as we knew from our last visit that it was a convenient spot
to spend a day doing the Domestics.
Yesterday we moved
on again to Ste Maxime, as we want to met up with some friends who live nearby.
Whilst the winds are still very light at present they were on our beam so up
went the cruising chute pushing us along silently at 4 knots in 7 knots of wind.
Last night was the festival of St. Pierre so the locals and the Priest were out
celebrating with blessings of all the boats in the harbour, a procession and
then the sacrificial burning of an old fishing boat (looked a lovely boat to
me).
As most of this
coast we covered in our blog on the outward trip I will not repeat lots of
detail & photos.
We hope to be back
in Port Napoleon early next week but a Mistral is again threatened - I
suppose that one is due after two weeks of calm, so that may delay us a few
days.
