With a forecast of nice westerly winds - what did
we get - a light easterly wind ie. head on. with quite a large swell following
Fridays fairly heavy westerlies that blew.
Anyway another day mainly on the motor albeit that
the wind did finally shift to the SW in the afternnon but very
light.
This was Alisons longest trip about 40 miles and
although she wasn't that happy initially with the swell all went OK and
fairly uneventful. Still no wild life/Dolphins but quite a number of boats
heading South/the other way. We did suddenly get some vibration from the boat.
We stopped and backed up etc. and off we went again - after intial vibration
again it cleared and all seemed to have been OK. I suspect we got something
on the prop. that cleared itself.
Almeria is completely different to the lovely
marina at Marina Del Este - It is firstly very large and surrounded by a complex
much of which are empty flats and shops. It seems that recent expansion hasn't
been matched by demand. This is clearly a major home for foreign 'Liveaboards',
people leaving there boats for a while and those passing through from North
to South and vice-versa. There is a big boat yard and supporting services,
so we may stay here a few days and try and fix a few things and change the
engine oil.
It is also the cheapest Marina I have seen at 20
Euros a night incl electricity (17 without electricity) - winter rates
excluding electricity are about 8 Euros a night. A place to remember as a
possible winter storage place.
