Yesterday we did about 20 miles and stopped fairly
early in a place called Arenys de Mar which turned out to be very pleasant with
a nice pool available at the Club Nautica. We had a tail wind but not very
strong winds so it was a combination of sailing and motor
sailing.
By contrast today we did 44 miles now on the Costa
Brava - an attractive and rugged coastline ending up in L'Estartit - a very
expensive marina - as we had been warned they all are as you approach France -
we are about 30 miles from the border. At least we sailed much of the way. Again
a tail wind but this time much stronger gusting up to 25 knots so the boat was
sometimes doing 8 knots.
Picture is of Tossa de Mar en route.
There are just dozens of French boats going up and
down this coast - they are certainly travellers unlike the Spanish. We were
lucky to get a place in the marina, as there must be 30 French boats here at
least.
