Oyster Bay

40.53.815N 073.30.893W We spent Wednesday at Port Washington touching up varnishwork, cleaning the topsides and generally tidying up and on Thursday morning we moved around to Oyster Bay, further east along the south side of Long Island Sound. Ian McCurdy , son of ‘Moonbeam’s’ designer had arranged a mooring for us at the Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club where “Moonbeam” had been kept by her first owner- Bill Rothschild, a former Commodore of the Club.
Ian and his wife came aboard for drinks at 1800hrs via the Club launch; it will be over 22 years since he had seen ‘Moonbeam’. Then we went ashore for dinner in the beautiful clubhouse and the launch delivered us back aboard at 2200- what a way to live!
The next day we went back ashore and saw a half model of “Moonbeam” among others in the model room and looked over the lovely grounds- the club even has its own boatyard!
The whole of Oyster Bay is filled with moorings and there are many beautiful yachts and amazing houses on the shoreline.
