San Domingo Creek

38.46.251N 076.13.757W Finally the bottom work was finished which allowed us to repaint the boottop and antifoul. The autopilot was returned and I refitted that and completed lots of other maintenance and cosmetic jobs.
We relaunched last Wednesday but meanwhile Lynn had acquired a flu bug and we stayed alongside finding more jobs to do! Last season’s anchoring in the Caribbean had stripped the anchor chain of its galvanising and access to a trade account allowed us to acquire 40 fathoms of shiny new chain! On the few occasions that we headed away inland from the marina the scenery has been very pleasant and pastoral although only a 40 minute drive from Washington D.C. As in the other areas the names are familiar but the most obvious is “ London Towne” just South of Annapolis! Whilst reading an American Yachting magazine I came across an advertisement- www.lochlomondmarina.com have a look- it’s not where you think! Herrington Harbour has been very good to us and very friendly and we were in many ways sorry to be leaving but 4 weeks after arriving we headed out on a lovely sunny afternoon, ( albeit several hours later than intended! ), got stuck in the mud at low tide at the entrance, then headed for the Eastern shore of Maryland where we wound our way up Broad Creek to anchor as it got dark in San Domingo Creek, just south west of St. Michaels.
