Just a quick one as the chief photographer is busy
cooking a curry!
The weather gurus have been seen huddled together
on the pontoon all discussing gribs and isobars. The current word is that
Saturday is the DAY! This actually concurs with my rather less scientific
observations involving a fir-cone and a piece of seaweed. So that is the current
plan - to leave early on Saturday morning - the only question remaining is to
gain westing first or southing in order to optimise the weather pattern
developing mid week.
We all had a bracing week on Monday but today had a
more serious one. A public holiday so the bus did not leave until 11.00 which
put a bit more time pressure on us. Caught the bus to Chipude which is at
1080metres and walked down to Valle Gran Rey where we caught the ferry back to
San Sebastian after a strenuous descent in superb scenery ( photos later). May
be worth a look on Google Earth as the scenery is up to Scotland's best. When
buying the tickets for 5 for the ferry I was asked for all the passports which
we did not have - just my driving license - so I had to claim that I was with my
wife, two brothers and sister! For some reason it appears they sold me 5 senior
citizen tickets!
More later but must go as the crew is demanding
more beer!
