Well a week has already somehow passed in
lovely downtown San Sebastian !
![]() We had to move berths on Sunday as a much larger
boat had 'booked' our berth. We had been told that you cannot book berths but in
true British style I did not complain - we now have good neighbours and are
further from the yappy dog!
Some of the varnish work has been done, the engine
serviced, the new charging monitor installed, the hull washed down to
remove a lot of salt, the lazarette emptied and re stowed; Lynn has been busy
restowing foodstuffs and research has been undertaken as to which shops have the
freshest fruit, the best meat, the freshest bread and cheapest drink! Also a
friendly ferreteria obtained some amazingly cheap closed cell foam so the next
project is to defrost the freezer and add some additional
insulation.
We have also been strolling around the town
but on Friday a more serious walk was undertaken! Catching the 9.30 bus to
Hermigua we set off down a track shown on our map which unfortunately became non
existent! So we walked on very quiet back roads and eventually reached the point
where 'our track' would have taken us to find the midway point carefully
signposted and many more good paths on the hill obvious but not shown on the
map!
![]() ![]() I'm sure there should be a path here!
We carried on in the mid-day sun ( mad Dogs etc! )
through lovely scenery; interestingly a group of climatoligists have pronounced
that Hermigua has 'the best climate in the world!' Certainly it is very
pleasant. We were glad to reach Agulo and catch the bus back to San Sebastian--
apparently somebody once asked if buses often fall over the steep precipices but
the answer is ' no-only once'
