Hogmanay Noon!!!
Trip to date 2784 miles from La Gomera
A good night with speedy progress on a broad reach
and minimal rolling, rocking and pitching so good sleeps for the off
watch.
We passed to the south of Barbados during the night
and a lovely dawn promised a great day. About 11am local time the Island of St
Vincent immediately north of Bequia was sighted and as I write this at
12.45local (16.45utc) we have only about 23 miles to the anchorage!
Approaching the islands is a bit like crossing the
Minch and picking out the islands at the south end of the Hebrides except that
it is 30degsC !!
Crew all busy scrubbing the boat and
themselves!
Happy Hogmanay! Please feel free to join us
in an adult beverage or three - note that we will celebrate at midnight UTC and
at midnight local time -- assuming we are still awake! - and that will be
after we celebrate arriving in Bequia! Champagne is in the
fridge!
