Deciding to wait another day - less head-on waves and electing for a lazy Sunday morning under crisp clear blue skies. Paperwork in the morning and then a pleasant visit to and old wooden fort - Fort King George in historic Darien - just 15 miles up the coastline. History of the "Guale" tribal Indian settlements and then the fort built in 1721 pre-dates the town of 1736. Great views out over the salt marshes crossed by the Altamaha River and its subsidiaries. Evening BBQ of tenderloin as a traditional Sunday "roast" as the sun sinks behind the marshes...perfect.
