Day 9 - Bahama Cruising (Highbourne Cay - Northern Exumas)

24:42.9N
76:49.9W
Time
to leave Nassau for a while - just the two of us again. Thoughts of
investigating Athol or Rose Island close by for an anchorage but deciding to
sail on to the Northern Exumas and head for an anchorage west of Highbourne Cay.
Using visual navigation to weave through any dark patches as we crossed Yellow
Bank reef - seeing depths of 1.5M below the keel - full sail keeping a heel and
reducing our draft by a little - just to be sure! Turquoise crystal clear
water all the way across with a steady south-easterly 12kn wind. Water made
whilst underway - arriving at a busy anchorage an hour before sunset. We
nestled in amongst a few sailing yachts with several mega-yacht motor
launches (very un-suitably lit up with multi coloured lights at night) kept us
company! Phil, Di
