An overnight solution suggested by Di (now promoted to Chief Advisor as well as 1st Mate) enabled the chain repair to be done without further tools, chasing the few open stores on Sunday and loosing another day - brilliant! We were cast off just after mid-day back to open sea and further south. Weather becoming noticeably warmer. Planned destination - Cape Canaveral. Not long after setting sail we had a visitor - another Pelican(!) - hitching a ride after some difficulty of climbing aboard through the wire stanchions he (or she) settled down for an afternoon's ride and sleep! Eventually taking off after we tacked and gave it an easier flight path into the wind!! Then the port steering wheel drive chain decided it too had done enough turning and broke - just as the stardboard one had done yesterday. This time with no ready chain available on-board we carried on - steering only on the starboard wheel. Night quickly closed in, the moon accompanied by Venus and Jupiter were bright in the sky, later joined by thousands more stars to gaze at. Motor-sailing throughout the night, watches running smoothly, the nautical miles fell peacefully away....
