02-Jun-25 Palermo to Capo d'Orlando

I had arrived in Palermo afternoon Sunday May 31st and stayed at the Mercure Centro. Went to quirky street
side laundromat in the morning, did a bit of walk around the central area of Palermo. Very busy, generally old with buildings needing work, streets requiring lots of maintenance however a good vibe. In the evening June 1st I went to the airport
to pick up Matt, who arrived around 19:00. Then we had a driver take us to Capo d'Orlando, about a 2.5 hour drive. Amazing number of bridges and tunnels en route. Serious civil engineering. 2 June: After breakfast Matt and I went to the boat yard. Turns out it was a public holiday, so the yard was shut.
Regardless, we found our way in and checked out the boat. A lot to do. First up connected the power. Noted batteries were reasonably charged. Turn on the engine and bowthruster chargers. Note the bowthruster battery charger was drawing a lot power. May be
a problem there. We then fitted all the cockpit canvas. John arrived early afternoon, he had been travelling from the UK, departing early am, then driven down from Palermo, so he was pretty knackered. He had bought with him a new set of boat cushions and other
bits and pieces. We continued checking the boat out, John preparing a list of things to do. Headed back to the Beachside apartments. Street side laundromat I made use of in Palermo Accommodation Capo d’Orlando Sunset
