On Thursday 8th May we motored for about 4 miles into a NE wind with Ne
swells, not to be recommended but we arrived at the anchorage of Saline Bay, a
lovely long sandy beach on the Island of Mayreau, part of the Tobago Cays
Marine Park. The Island is only 1.5 square miles in total so we did the
walking tour and found a small friendly Island with an abundance of bar/rum
shops and restaurants, a few t-shirt vendors and handicraft outlets catering to
the Cruiser trade. There are small cruise ships which visit anchoring out
in the deep water and then ferry all the tables/chairs/ food/drinks/people onto
the beach, apart from the t-shirt salespeople on the beach we couldn’t see how
anyone made a living from them. The snorkeling was excellent and we
enjoyed four days here.
