UTC 0616 We are on anchor at the entry of the marina in Cefalù… In my previous message I said that I do not know the destination but rather direction… the West… The challenge to be more precise — the weather, again. The weather, suitable for sailing… As the days becoming shorter, or, let be more precise — as the nights becoming longer, and the weather is more often unsettled — the thought crossed my mind that may be it is more convenient to travel at night… The idea is used long time by cruisers lines… My thought is — I can ‘handled’ progressing towards the destination at a speed of 2.x knots… at night… It is much easier then doing the same during the nice, sunny day! ;-). So I tried. I left the Milozzo anchorage about lunch time. The wind has just started to form… ( So far, there is always some wind afternoon, till Sun set… )… We have some progress at a speed between 4 and 5 knots…. It was impossible to go faster ( with sails only ), but I was not in a rush… I was planning to be either in Cefalù early morning, or — to continue to sail the next day too, and reach Polermo… The plan worked, kind of…. Though I still have run the motor for a couple of hours… When the speed over ground got to 0.5 knots…. my nerves gave up! ;-). On another ‘extreme’, the breeze at early morning was pushing the boat at ‘astonishing’ 5.5 knots towards Cefalù harbour… but 1.5 hour before the Sun appearance… I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN!!!! ;-) To make the story short — we are on anchor, in front of Cefalù. The anchorage looks very nice. It is in front of the small marina, and well protected. ![]() By cliffs with some ancient ruins on one side, and the marina water breaker on the other… The old town — is about 2 km away, if you trust the Google maps… Just follow the road about the cliff… I would probably explore more about the area tomorrow or on Monday… The plan is — to spend some time there — 2 or 3 days (?). I’ve promised the boat to do some more work on the engine… ;-) Regular maintenance, nothing spectacular. Then — if we have the weather window — to move to the anchorage near Palermo. I do not know yet about the good weather window to go to Palermo… But the forecast about the strong NW wind on Thursday, next week — seems holding so far… So, I need to find not only the good weather, but also the anchorage with good NW wind & swell protection… The current is … But I do not want to stay here so long… As usual, we will see… ;-) I stop the message here… But with the wording …’ to be continued…’, as I hope to get more information and, hopefully, stories as I visit Cefalù city… Everything is good and under control!
