Or somewhere around, since by the time I finished
writing, we will be somewhere else...
On our port side, Formentera. I can
clearly see the lights of Cabo Berberia and Punta Single Mal De Codolar.
Or at least, I call it that way, taking
names from the chart.
Nice night. A few minutes ago, I was
watching the Moon set. ( If there is the Sun set, it should be the
Moon set too, right?)
The sky immediately became dark, But with a
lot of stars... Somehow, the sky is black today. The water is black.
They are a bit 'indiferent', as saying
' So, you are here. Big deal. We do not care...' I do not know what
is causing that... But everyone may have a bad temper once in a
while. Or, may be, they -- the sky and the Sea -- are busy with something
else at the moment...
According to the chart, Formentera -- or what
ever it may be -- is about 15 nm North from us.
A month ago, I wal told ' Here, in Spain, we
have internet everywhere! On the passape, between the Islands... '.
Ah, dear friend! You has
defirenetely not been sailing where I'm sailing ! The beauty of
sailing boat -- you can always find a unique place! ;-) ( Saying
that -- there is a 'price to pay' since I have to use the Sat phone
to send this message. And if you read this
message then one more test of the equipment on board
would have passed ! ;-)
The map says -- 84 nm to Palma de
Mallorca... We will see as we get there! Based on lights -- there is
some installation somewhere ahead... Yes, we gybed one more time, a few
hours ago. And hopefully -- we will reach land on that tack.
It has been a busy day. Though the new
software -- Squid -- and its weather models helps a lot... at the moment we are
motoring.
Yes, there is no enough wind to propel us quickly
enough. And I do not have a certificate ( yet ? ) to enter the unknown
harbours at night... Though ironcally, knowing that ' well known' rule...
I'm doing it too often... ;-) Starting with the first landing with
that boat... Carma, I would guess...
So, we are motor sailing, trying to maintain
speed, burning diesel, (and upsetting
the 'green people'). According to the software -- there is a ' hole
' ahead of us, with winds - ' not suitable for sailing '.
Everything is OK ,
Talk to you soon!
M.
P.S. For those who started to read those
terrible notes just now, if there are some... When I'm writing 'us, we' -- I
mean SV Eleonora, who is performing the trip, actually. And
myself, Michael, who pretending to be captain, skipper, crew...
etc, etc... , all in 'one bottle'', as they say... Sametimes, all of above at
the same time...
