UTC 0945
Somewher, somehow the local time should go 1 hour
ahead of the UTC... So cold -- summer time. But since I have no idea where --
forget it...
So, 3678.0 nm passed, and 270 nm in straight line
to destination... I have a feeling it would be all ~500nm before we get
there, but we will see.
THe night was good -- the decision to tack
was right. ( ' Of course, it has been right... How can
we prove it? How do we know where we would have been if
preferred to stay on the old one?! ' ... Ah, disregard that
comment from my dear crew Michael... He got a lot of sh### for not
stoving the stuff properly. When we tacked last night -- a lot of
stuff started to flow from starboard to port... and he has been
cleaning it nearly all night... But quite a few lost
items has been recovered! We has been looking for them
for the last couple of days... )
Any way, we just tacked again,
and we are 'zigzaging' around the course
045T...
The weather is nicer, for a change...
Sunny... the wind went down a bit, but still we have a solid
Force 3, may be in transition to Force 4... to beat against...
The temperature ? Ah, what can I say... It
reminds me those late middle / late September mornings in
Montreal... when somehow you feel the frost coming, but no official
announcement about it.... The air is crisp and 're-freshing'... But
I'm biased, dio not listen to me... As the Sun going up, it
is getting warmer and warmer...
Warmer ? Well, I've even
unzip the weather coat! ( So, as you see I'm getting use to it... No complains
about multiple layers under the weather coat... and happy to be able to unzip
it... )
The real interesting change -- the ocean
water around... That beautiful deep blue, wich accumulated as
transperent water is getting deeper, and deeper -- long time gone... Probably,
for 2-3 days...
Instead, the water getting the greenish, with
addition of geyish colour... No clue what is the actual cause about it... But
the change is quite noticeable.
At the same time, the water is still clear...
For the reason unknown -- the birds gone...
Made me nervous for a moment and force to double check my position... But we are
ok, we are where the instruments say...
But the birds gone... May be it is because we are closer to France now, and the birds Union declared the strike... ( I do not have news, I do not know... ), may be the weather near the coast -- ' is not suitable for flights ', or... may be, again since we are close to the French coast, there is so much food on land that why bother to fly fishing? The plan for the day -- to make a lot of
reading.
No matter how slow our progress is -- at some
point we would hit the land... And those would be the tidal lands...
Keeping a good tradition of the Moscow University
student, it is a right time to make a coffee, to pick up the book
and to learn what is tide, tidal current, and navigation in those...
Again, the real exam is coming, and at
least, today, I have to identify where is the proper text
book... how many pages should be absorbed, etc, etc,...
So, we are progressing. A new day
arrived.
Talked to you soon,
M.
