11 April – We headed off for Saba, a remote inaccessible island with a
capital town called Bottom which is at the top of a hill and the second town is
called Windwardside. ‘Cause in on the windward side of the island also at the
top of a hill. How could you resist it. Unfortunately the conditions
didn’t permit a landing and we spent an awful but secure night hanging onto a
mooring buoy off the little harbour at Fort Bay.
12 April - In the morning it was apparent that things were not going to
improve and we moved on toward Anguilla. Even that didn’t work for us as the
wind turned against us and so here we are in Margot on the island of St Martins.
This is peculiar as half of the island is Dutch and uses US dollars as its
currency and the other half is French and uses Euros. We are in the French bit.
Typical of the French islands, very Med. Wow, its cool ashore just like carnival
all over again. Can’t hear myself for drumming.
