We have now been back in Fiji for about 12 days and have made a serious
dent in the jobs list.
Just prior to us arriving on the 12th there were two cyclones, Josi and
Keni that passed not that far away and did effect some areas of Fiji and causes
major flooding in Nadi. The team at Vuda did an awesome job and made sure all
the boats were well secured just in case it was another big one...
Apparently the wind did not exceed 50kts but was very wet.
Luckily the weather fined up for our arrival and apart from one day we have
had fine and sunny conditions which are just perfect for getting boat jobs
done.
We have pretty much put Sally back into cruising trim with her wind
generator, solar panels and dinghy deployed as well as having a serious clean
inside and out, winches serviced, some interior painting and a great polishing
job as you can see from the photos below.... she is definitely looking very
pretty and shiny!! She has had a few other additions this year including a
new cockpit shower, new anchor chain (yes we wore the old chain out!!) and a
very nice mantis swivel to stop getting twists in the anchor chain so looking
forward to trying them out.

Last Friday we had a lovely visit from some cruising friends Oscar and
Graciella who just happened to be on a cruise on a ship from Australia to
Vancouver and just happened to have a stop over at Lautoka so was great to meet
up with them again and enjoy a bit of lunch and a few beverages. We got to
see them arrive early on Friday morning as they sailed past the marina.

We were also visited by Chris and Amanda who are locals but have common
friends at home who were down at Vuda a few weeks ago checking out cruising
boats and are quite interested in Hunters so was great to show them around and
have a good chat about cruising. We look forward to following their
progress and transition to cruisers.
It was a bit like deja vu yesterday. Sally was exhumed from her pit
and put up onto props in pretty much the same spot as last season so if the
photos look similar you know why.
The next few days will be spent getting the bottom prepared including a
quick sand, antifoul and prop speed before she gets splashed down on Friday if
all goes well *fingers crossed*.
