We departed Martha Cove at 15:00H on Wednesday 30th March.  We were sent on our way by Sir Andrew and Miss Robyn and were also waved off by a couple of the Martha Cove locals.

We made it to our planned destination of Blairgowrie at around 17:30H and settled in for a couple of bevvies on the back deck while watching the sunset.

We were up when it was still dark on Thursday morning to make the end of the flooding tide at the heads.  Obviously our selection of weather windows was good as we were joined by 4 other yachts all heading the same way.  Rather than heading straight to the Prom we decided to take a detour into the bay behind Cape Woolamai and dropped the anchor off Homestead Point for the night.  It was a really lovely and picturesque anchorage however, despite what should be excellent coverage by the Cape, we found it be quite rollie especially on the flooding tide – go figure – didn’t make much sense to us.  It has however, inspired us to take a trip down to Phillip Island when we are back home again.

It was up pretty early again on Friday for the 70NM passage down to Refuge Cove at the Prom.  Unfortunately my brain was working a bit slow and Mark beat me to our usual ‘pinch and punch for the first of the month’ ritual but I will definitely get him back next time!!!  The weather had plenty of promise for a lovely sail however, by about 10am the wind had dropped off and we had to deploy the motor going again and motor sailed the rest of the trip.  We arrived at the prom at around 20:30H.

We were hoping to head off for the passage across the paddock on Saturday morning however, a quick weather check before entering the ‘internet abyss’ that is Refuge Cove showed that the front coming through on Saturday morning had grown in intensity so made the very tough decision (not) to spend the day in the prom.  It is now looking like we will be up VERY early on Sunday morning for the trip to Eden.  We do have some company in the anchorage with 4 other yachts parked up including Kate and Fly from Hobson’s Bay and Coomera Cat which has been our travelling buddy so far.  Be interesting to see if anyone else joins us in the morning - assuming the weather window is still looking favourable when we do our weather check a bit later in the day.

So far it has been a lazy morning with a bit of a lay in as we were both pretty tired last night.  Mark has been doing his normal checks and so far there is much great happiness as his checks have shown no water of the fuel filters, we have a crispy dry bilge and the motor oil is looking amazingly clean.

We are planning a trip to the beach this afternoon to update the Mustang Sally plaque in the Boaties Camp and might also do a quick touch up to the Windward II and Jazz Player plaques as well.

Will do another update when we are up the coast further and will be able to advise if all our plans actually made it to fruition.
