Departed Ha’afeva in the Ha’apai at 16:00 on the 20th and did a very slow
overnight passage of around 80NM to arrive at Port Maurelle in the Vava’u group
mid morning on the 21st.
Lovely spot and sure we will be spending plenty of time around this island
group. We had a lovely day and went for a bit of a snorkel and swim and
enjoyed the very calm conditions and the amazingly clear waters.
Yesterday (22nd) we headed into Neiafu and have picked up a mooring for a
few days to sit out the nasty low pressure system that is coming our way.
We did our clearance with Customs, which is required when moving between
different island groups, and have already done a bit of a rekky on town finding
most of the things we are going to need including laundry, rubbish, bakery, deli
etc etc so all good.
The plan is to head back down the the Ha’apai early next week or whenever
the weather will allow as very keen to spend a bit more time down in those parts
especially as it is renown for kite boarding and we may even take the
opportunity to have a few more lessons as sure we are a bit rusty as the last
time we were out was 2 months ago.
