Sad News

Alongside RSAYS, Outer Harbor I have some very sad news - on Saturday a group of boys who were fishing in the basin found Oli, in the water under the maintenance pontoon where Sylph is currently berthed, presumably drowned. I am very grateful to everyone for their encouragement and continuing support over this difficult period, in particular the members and my friends from the Royal SA Yacht Squadron. The Commodore has given me permission to lay Oli to rest in the Squadron grounds and yesterday my friend Julian helped me to bury him under a small grove of trees on the north bank of the yacht basin near where he was found. For now I have marked the spot with a small cairn of stones but later we will place a small plaque on the spot to commemorate a wonderful ship's cat. I am of course very sad about this outcome and miss Oli's companionship dreadfully, but will not dwell on this any further. I am sure most people have lost a companion animal some time in their lives and have some appreciation of how I am feeling. All is not well. Oli's Final Resting Place:
