It has been a relatively quiet week with the only significant event being the arrival of the box of spare parts on Thursday. The package included lots of gaskets, including a new head gasket, new valves and associated bits, and new rings. I have subsequently fitted the rings to the pistons and reinstalled the pistons into freshly honed cylinders in the block. I have also finished painting the engine bay and the next step is to reinstall the engine beds which have also been given a fresh coat of paint.

This week I will deliver the valves to the head reconditioning shop so hopefully the head will be restored later in the week if they are not too busy with other jobs. The other major job I need to start on is modifying the exhaust system with the installation of a water trap to prevent water getting back into the engine. I am also waiting for a package from Beta Marine containing an exhaust riser and new engine mounts, which of course will be needed before the BRM can be reinstalled. (By the way, for those who have forgotten or are relative new comers to my blog, BRM is my nickname for the engine, standing for Bright Red Machine, and of course also playing on a little onomatopoeia. The engine is not quite as bright red as it was when I first bought it so I will have to give it another fresh coat of paint once it is all back together again.)

All is well.
