Engine Overhaul Complete

Alongside RSAYS, Outer
Harbor I received the heat exchanger on Tuesday and installed it the same day. Engine workshop trials were successful and with the assistance of Julian, we resinstalled the engine using the Squadron's yellow crane on Friday. I spent Saturday aligning the engine with the propeller shaft (not totally satisfied with this but it will have to do for now), then connecting up the exhaust system, fuel, cooling water, and the electrics. I am very pleased to report that the engine is running and initial sea trials were a success and that we were able to dock at Sylph's berth in the Squadron marina under our own power. Yesterday I raced as coach with the Freedom crew in the second race of the Winter series. Conditions were once again very light and the course had to be shortened significantly. There were only three boats total sailing in our division but it was nonetheless very rewarding to receive first place. I believe our weekly training sessions are proving very worth while and I hope that with continuing dedication and practice from the crew we will do well in the remaining four races. All is well. |
