Scuba Dive 12 Apr 13

12:27.438N 061:29.27W Having enjoyed our first scuba dive so much we were all up for a repeat. Several friends had told us about the small dive school on the island of Carriacou run by a German couple so we thought we would give that a try and then decide where we would like to do our full Open Water course next year. The dive school was on the beach so we sat in the shade for our theory phase and then walked straight into the sea for our initial practice. Much nicer than watching a video and then going into a swimming pool. The couple running the school were a delight and made us feel that we were the only people they ever taught. They took photographs for us and we hired an underwater camera so that the boys could take some pictures ourselves during the dive. First practice in the shallow water….. Then get yourself organised in the dive boat…… do that falling in backward thing while holding onto your dive mask with one hand and your weights belt with the other. The picture shows Carol not enjoying that bit very much. …….. But then you are in the water and it is fabulous. We were so pleased this time to have use of an underwater camera. Here, left to right, is George, Carol, Mike and Jack at the beginning of the dive.
We had a fantastic time and need no further encouragement to do the PADI open water course so that we can dive without the need for the training phase first. We will do the theory phase on-line during the summer and then return to Carriacou when we leave Trinidad to do the practical course. |
