Day 5 - St Barts - Gustavia

Warm again today without wind all day hot and sweaty all the time. Just one bit of boat husbandry today and that was getting rid of rust marks around the stainless steel fittings and on deck. Went for a walk to the airport today. We are under the flightpath of the propellor aircraft that use it, no jets come in here. This is the airport that aircraft aim for the top of the hill then drop down immediately when over the top to
land on the short runway with the other end next to the sea. Due to no wind the aircraft when I was there all landing from the sea end. About 20 minutes after I left 1 plane came in over the hill. Cleared customs in Gustavia so we can leave about 0800 in the morning for Antigua. Race back is start when you want and record start and the finish time off Jolly Harbour. Engines can be used (times of use recorded and added to elapsed
time) as some boats have clients on who have accommodation booked and before they can get to it need to clear immigration which closes at 1700 I believe in Jolly Harbour. So 2 boats starting at 0500. We shall carry on to English Harbour as that is where I
have declared on SailClear where we are going. This will mean arriving in the dark and anchoring or sail arbitrarily until daylight then anchor. |
