Better day as lovely sunshine and light wind.
Measured symmetrical spinnaker after breakfast then did
a rough calculation of area and is 40sqM less that showing on my IRC
certificate. I think the area is the assymetric I got with the boat that looks
big and is in a poor state so never used it for racing. Will get IRC rating
adjusted. The measurements have gone off to CSA to get that certificate
corrected awaiting the revision.
Mainsail collected and bent on, all repairs look
OK.
Upper rudder bearing removed and checked because of the
creaking and little movement at head. The nylon bearing and aluminium assembly
look in same state as when put in back in March 2023. No problem to resolve so
all put back together for racing.
Started looking at RORC prescriptions for racing as
extra to World Sailing Requirements for Cat3 races. There are a couple of small
items we need to address like extra waterproof torch and a strobe for
emergencies.
The No2 reefing line has had extra whipping to smooth
lead in to the chafe cover. Also John did the rudder centre position marking
with thin string whipped on, hopefully does not want to fall apart with
use.
