Catching up with events over the winter period in
Messolonghi.
21st December.
The girls joined us here in Greece for Xmas and
spent a couple of weeks with us, we hired a
car from Patras and picked the girls up from Athens airport .As it was Samanthas
birthday on the 22nd we had decided to stop enroute in the ancient city of
Delphi where we had booked a couple of rooms in a hotel as a
surprise.
The hotel owner had made a cake for Samantha which
we thought was a really nice gesture and given us rooms with great views of the
Gulf of Patras.
That night had a typical greek meal and caught
up on all the girls news.The following day the girls went and spoke to the
"Oracle".They were a bit disappointed with the weather and were surprised to
find the temperature on a par with the UK!!
The 2 weeks passed very quikly with various trips
to the airport to drop Trinity off ,as she was spending New Year in Scotland
,and pick up John ,Chances boyfriend.for the return journey.
New Year was quite bizarre as the Greeks do not
celebrate the entering of the New Year like we do and it was the first time
that any of us had eaten our way to New Year!
We had a private celebration at 2am in the town
square opening a couple of bottles of champagne and letting off Chinese
Lanterns.
