Dear Blog
This is a picture of us on the chartplotter
approaching Bermuda this morning. Island is about 15 miles long and we are 50
miles away. The wind came back at 2300hrs last night with a bang (force5) and
lots of rain as a cold front moved southward. Unfortunately despite our effort
to put ourselves 25 miles to windward (east) this was not far enough - as you
can see from the picture we have slipped below the rhumb (rum?) line already (at
0900hrs) ie to the west and cannot point the entrance, the wind being NNE
not NE.
![]() We are closehauled on stbd tack and will probably
continue on this until we get under the lee of Bermuda in 6 hours time at which
point we will put the engine on, We really do want to get in daylight. Forecast
air temp in Bermuda 20C as is the water temp!!!
Uncomfortable in the pitching forecabin so shall do
an arrival blog tomorrow
